Hello World!

I am a Community College Graduate turned High School Principal. I am a lover of all things tech, art, and education. I have created more than 700 TV/Radio commercials and instructional videos in my career. Some have aired on Apple TV, the World Series, and the Super Bowl - so the first question one may ask is: “Why be an educator?”

In April of 1975 the "Year Zero" started in the country of Cambodia. A 9 year old girl was separated from her family, forced to work hard labor, and denied an education. And unfortunately all artists were killed. One reason the Khmer Rouge targeted educated and artistic people was the fact that they had the power to influence and move people. When the day came to flee the concentration camps of the Khmer Rouge she lived many years as a refugee with hopes she’d come to the land of opportunity one day.

When she came to America at the age of 18 she barely spoke the language but she knew one thing; her children would be educated. Growing up, the mantra of “stay in school and get good grades” had a deeper meaning in our house. Mom had a plan for all of us.

The older I get, the more I realize that education is the gold standard and can truly move a family out of poverty. I have worked as a professor at Xavier University, Cincinnati State, and the Modern College of Design. My most recent role I fulfill is as the Principal and Creative Director at Butler Tech's School of the Arts. Learning is a life-long process and I am fortunate to be a part of a company that allows young people to be creative, educated and powerful. In my previous careers I’ve sold a lot of stuff, but I'm honored to currently invest my time in people.
